About

“I never really listened to music as a kid until my mom got me that iPod.”

Brooklyn-born alternative hip-hop artist, 'Missingno.' adapts his name from a glitch in the original Pokémon game, interpreted as "missing number." As the origins of his name would suggest, Missingno.'s music incorporates game-like sounds that are reminiscent of many classic Nintendo games (Super Mario, Pokémon, Sonic the Hedgehog) and combines them with elements of today's Pop and Hip-Hop / R&B.

As he was growing up, Missingno. was obsessed with video games to the point where his mother was tired of buying them and decided to instead buy him an iPod for Christmas. At that time he began expanding his musical palette, listening to Odd Future artists Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler the Creator, & Frank Ocean among others. He also began listening to video game & anime soundtracks. It wasn’t until he made it to college that he was introduced to the artist lifestyle and started to get into creating music.

“I thought that was really cool and I asked him how he did it and he told him that he learned off YouTube. He would have shows, and I used to help him promote and assist him with filming music videos.”

While attending the University of Texas at Austin, he met his friend Nick, who rapped & produced under the name “Lil Simba”. Meeting an aspiring artist and realizing that he can learn from YouTube turned him onto producing music. However, when he realized he was making non-commercial music, he decided to try to sing over the production himself. Eventually, Missingno. put out his first project in 2015, a six-track EP called “The_Screen” (Electronic / Alternative).  The title was derived from the fact that he was constantly in front of a screen whether it was at his day job working at Apple’s Riata Vista Campus, creating music, or playing video games.

After graduating, he moved to Ohio to get his Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Akron. During that time he was part of the TV program, ZTV, where he would interview other artists while also still writing and recording music himself. Shortly after finishing up his Master’s program, he released “808-Bit Music” (Pop / Alternative) in the summer of 2019. With this release Missingno. expanded on his previous game-heavy sound by adding more rhythmic elements, including the popular TR-Roland “808” kick drum. In 2020, Missingno. followed up with “Dirty Beach”, a two-song summer based mini EP.

“I bought my own mic & started recording myself. I was just too nervous to record in a studio. I thought I would sound terrible and I wasn't comfortable singing in front of people so I did everything myself, out of fear.”

From 2021 until present, Missingno. switched gears and released a string of Hip-Hop singles including: Light (2021), Infinite (2024), Hazy_Thoughts (2024), & Energy_Remix feat. Floco Torres (2025). All of which lead up to the release of his upcoming project, The_Reflection. Releasing in fall of 2026, The_Reflection takes on a notably darker sound & lyrical content than previous releases. On this project, Missingno. reflects on his life since the pandemic including the personal, mental, and physical health challenges he fought to overcome during this time period.
